LearningRx of Vienna, Va., Reston, Va. Fairfax, Va., Chantilly, Va., Leesburg, Va., and N. Potomac, Md. are collecting toys at their brain-training centers from now through Dec. 24 for the their respective, local Salvation Army facilities. For every five toys that are collected, LearningRx will also donate one of their ‘smart’ brain-building toys to Salvation Army; toys that help build cognitive skills, like memory, auditory, logic, attention and processing speed. For Veteran’s Day, LearningRx of DC Metro Area is offering 11 percent off of their brain training programs for military families Nov. 11 through Nov. 30, located at six, local centers, Chantilly, Va., Fairfax, Va., Leesburg, Va., Reston, Va., Vienna, Va. and North Potomac, Md. For each military child they train, LearningRx will also donate $111 to SemperMax, a program to enhance the morale and welfare of wounded veterans and their families. LearningRx programs have been helping traumatic-brain-injured military veterans, like U.S. Army Capt. Patrick Horan (Ret.) of McLean, Va., recover their speech and memory skills, and LearningRx is now extending brain training to military families that are looking to make learning easier or for those who struggle with learning disabilities, ADHD or autism. Paola Berrios, owner, Bellezza Spa of Centreville, Va. is joining the “Look Good Feel Better” campaign held at Life with Cancer, a hands-on workshop conducted by professional cosmetologists to help women manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Affordable Care Act Workshop at NOVA-Manassas

The community is invited to a free workshop about the Affordable Care Act on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

The workshop will explain how the new health initiative affects individuals and families and help people enroll for health insurance.
