Local Salon to Send 270 Holiday Packages to St. Clou Orphanage in Haiti

Salon Daniel of McLean, Va. is seeking donations to send 270 holiday care packages now through Dec. 31 to 270 orphans at the St. Clou Orphanage in Haiti. Each care package is $7. The salon has already raised approximately $1000 and is sending their first shipment of 50 plus care packages. Give the gift of derby this holiday season! Both teams will certainly be in the brawliday spirit as they trade gifts of hip checks and bruises.

This bout is sure to leave the Armory shaking, as these two teams—so far undefeated—will be fighting to take the lead this season. Scare Force One, who came out on top in Seasons 1 and 2, are eager to show their dominance over the Season 3 and 4 champion DemonCats. With a roster heavy on members of the DC All-Stars (Condoleezza Slice, Chinese Cheker, Marion Barrycuda, Velocityraptor, Soledad and Lois Slain), Scare Force has a strong base. But the DemonCats are confident that smart strategy can get them ahead.

Santa made quick stop into City Square Café for a snack and cup of hot cocoa after spending time in Old Town Manassas visiting the local children.  He received a warm greeting from owner, Robert and Susanna Barolin and send-off kiss before returning to the North Pole.

Homemade Cookie Contest & Recipe Swap

On Sunday, December 5, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. the Chinn Park Regional Library will hold a Cookie Tasting and Recipe Swap contest. All interested bakers should bring a copy of their favorite cookie recipe and at least 7 dozen bite size cookies, so there will be plenty to taste; one entry per person please. Library patrons are encouraged to sample all the cookies and vote for the one they like the best. The winning baker will receive a gift certificate to Potomac Mills Mall. All bakers must register by Friday, December 3, as space is limited.

Grand Marshal Selected for Greater Manassas Christmas Parade

The Greater Manassas Christmas Parade Committee is proud to announce that R.B. Thomas, Jr., of Nokesville, Va. will be the Grand Marshal of the 65th Annual Christmas Parade in Old Town Manassas on Sat., December 4th, 2010 at 10 a.m.  For more information, go to www.gmchristmasparade.org.
