Maureen Loftus, executive director of LearningRx of Vienna, Va., and Reston, Va. is leading the kick-off of the Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce (TRCC) job shadow program for 11th and 12th grade students of Oakton, Madison and Marshall high schools in Fairfax County, Va., where students will shadow professionals in various industries in January and February. The program received a Blue Ribbon Award from Fairfax County Schools in 2014. Loftus is heading up the program as she is the chair of the TRCC’s Youth and Education Committee. Monza of Old Town Manassas, Va. is hosting an American Cancer Society fundraiser on Tues., Jan. 27 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monza will donate 10 percent of all pizza and house wines sales from that night to the American Cancer Society. For information, go to www.eatmonza.com.

Bellezza Spa will offer one 10 percent discount off a spa service, per person that drops off five canned goods. The discount can only be applied once, per person.

MANASSAS CITY ‘OPERATION ROUND UP’ HELPS THOSE IN NEED with UTILITY BILLS

Colder weather has set in and that means people are turning up their thermostats and seeing higher utility bills.  The City of Manassas’ Operation Round Up is in full force, where customers that authorize the City of Manassas to "round up" their monthly electric bill to the next higher dollar. If the bill is $73.80, it is rounded up to $74 and the extra 20 cents is contributed to the Operation Round Up® fund.  Single donations from customers are also accepted, simply by adding the additional dollars to their payment with a notice that the overpayment is for Operation Round Up.
