FREE CUPCAKES AT OCCASIONALLY CAKE on SUN. JULY 20;  DONATES 50% to METROPOLITAN SCHOOL of the ARTS

 

Occasionally Cake of Alexandria, Va. and Mount Vernon, Va. is celebrating its five-year anniversary on Sun., July 20 and handing out one free cupcake per person to all their patrons with no purchase necessary at their Old Town Alexandria shop at 207 King Street and Mount Vernon at 8859 Richmond Highway from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Occasionally Cake will donate 50 percent of all their sales that day to Metropolitan School of the Arts youth scholarships of Lorton, Va. The free cupcakes will be available in Chocolate Marshmallow, Red Velvet, Snickerdoodle, Funfetti and Strawberry Key Lime flavors with other flavors available for purchase. A variety of other flavors will be available for purchase.  Occasionally Cake will offer an anniversary special of four cupcakes for $8.

Monza of Old Town Manassas is hosting The Send Kids to Camp Campaign on Thurs., June 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Monza at 9405 Battle Street in Manassas, Va. to benefit Youth Leadership Prince William, a program geared toward teaching professional skills to emerging young leaders. METROPOLITAN SCHOOL OF THE ARTS RAISES $8,000 for BLACK BOX THEATRE PROJECT in ALEXANDRIA, VA.

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) raised $8,000 at their second Annual Benefit Concert to go toward construction of their Black  Box Theatre project in Alexandria, Va. Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble and iMpulse Jazz Ensemble performed at the concert at the George Washington National Memorial in Alexandria, Va., hosted by FOX 5’s anchor, Annie Yu.

“We are so grateful to the community for helping our dance companies get closer to our goal of building our Black Box Theatre,” said Melissa Dobbs, presidents of the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Alexandria and Lorton, Va.

Nominations open for Prince William Poet Laureate

Nominations are now open for the first ever Prince William Poet Laureate, a two-year position to be selected and filled under an exciting new Laureate program of the Prince William County Arts Council. The program is being administered by a special committee of the Arts Council under the leadership of June Forte, a member of Write by the Rails, the Prince William Chapter of the Virginia Writers Club.
