MRSA Updates for the 2010–11 School Year

From Prince William County Public Schools:

Continuing the practice begun in the 2007–08 school year, Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) will report on a monthly basis any confirmed cases of the staph infection known as MRSA during the 2009–10 school year. This bacterial infection can spread easily among people who spend time in close contact with each other, such as household members and participants in close-contact sports. MRSA is not spread through the air. Personal hygiene is very important in preventing and controlling the spread of MRSA infections. Frequent hand washing with soap and water is the primary means of preventing staph infections. For more information, please follow the links that appear below. This page will be updated on the last workday of each month. You can check out more information, including a parent tip sheet and general information on MRSA infections.

Stick Wielding Robber Met By Owner With Hammer

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA) -- It is dramatic video of a man covered from top to bottom walks into the Super Market, a small convenience store on Liberia Avenue, and confronts the owner with a long stick.

58-year-old Jugal Uppal had just opened the store, Tuesday morning, when he says he thought someone was playing a joke on him.

But it was no prank.  Jugal was met with the crook wielding, what he says was, a 7-foot stick.  He says the would-be robber demanded money.

That's when Jugal grabbed a hammer that's tucked behind the counter.

Jugal Uppal says, "I picked up the hammer and I go over there. I was screaming at him, he was screaming at me.  I told him to stay away.  I said if you hit me, I hit you."

The near four minute ordeal was all caught on tape.  There are two noticeable stalemates in the stick vs. hammer faceoff.  The robber is wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans with plastic bags over his shoes.
